Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Aim: of the study was to investigate the difference of distribution and expression of the lysyl oxidase enzymes (LOX), the pro-collagen C proteinase (PCP) and the myofibroblasts in the vaginal tissue of postmenopausal women, with and without prolapse.
Materials and Methods: This was a prospective closely matched controlled clinicopathological study. Samples were obtained from the anterior vaginal wall of postmenopausal patients that underwent hysterectomy for benign conditions. The immunohistochemical study of the samples was performed on paraffin embedded specimens with the semi-automatic Ventana method according to the manufacturer’s instructions. We have also examined the correlation between prolapse and parity, age and body weight in the same population. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :In our study, the aims are typing and investigating of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) in cervical swab samples by multiplex real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Besides PCR results and cytological evaluation of the samples were compared.
Cytological samples were stained with Papanicolaou and modified Bethesda system was used for definition. PCR study was performed with XpertHPV. |

Screening and Prevention of Cervical Cancer in the World |
Author : Vargas-Hernández Victor Manuel* |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Cervical cancer is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among gynecological cancers worldwide. Cervical cancer is the main cancer found in developing countries. There are risk factors for cervical cancer worldwide, mainly persistent infection of high risk HPV, especially genotypes 16 and 18 viruses. Cervical cancer prevented when precursor lesions detected and treated before they develop cancer. Cervical cancer is preventable, and effective screening programs reduce morbidity and mortality associated with this type of cancer; however, the programs vary according to socio-economic conditions of each country, which reflected in the increased incidence, morbidity, mortality from cervical cancer in developing countries. |

Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Uterine sarcomas are neoplastic malignancies that typically arise in tissues of a mesenchymal origin in uterine body. The identifi cation of novel molecular mechanisms leading to sarcoma formation, and the establishment of new therapies and biomarkers has been hampered by several critical factors. Uterine leiomyosarcoma (U-LMS), which is the most common sarcoma, is rarely observed in clinical settings, with fewer than 15,000 new cases being diagnosed each year in the United States. Another complicating factor is that U-LMS are extremely heterogeneous as they arise in a multitude of tissues from many different cell lineages. |

Case Report: Pelvic abscess formation secondary to the use of commercial hemostatic topical agent in an immunocompromised patient? |
Author : Mónica Monzón-Vargas, Yuliana Gómez- Meraz and Rodrigo Ayala-Yáñez* |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Various hemostatic agents are currently available for routine laparoscopic procedures, avoiding thermal lesions due to energy devices and the complexity of intracorporeal sutures, however, evidence of complications in immunocompromised patients is still lacking. We present the case of a severely immunocompromised gynecological patient who underwent a routine laparoscopic cystectomy, where a local hemostatic agent was employed; further complications arose, a second diagnostic laparoscopy revealed a pelvic abscess with severe adhesion formation. All under a complicated clinical setting due to an impaired immune response, whether this abscess was caused due to the hemostatic agent or other patient’s conditions remains to be determined, still, various clinical factors and patient’s response need to be taken into account as the cause of the abscess formation. |

Milking Versus Delayed Cord Clamping in Full Term Neonates Delivered by Elective Caesarean Section a Randomized Controlled Trial |
Author : Ahmed M El-kotb |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Background: Preterm birth is a major health concern. It is the leading cause of perinatal mortality and morbidity. Besides varied etiology, it may be due to alteration in basic biochemical function of the body at cellular level stating emphasis to trace elements of which magnesium, being one of them. Pregnancy is marked by a state of hypomagnesaemia and varied hypomagnesaemia observed in preterm labor cases.
Aim of the work: The study conducted to find out the relationship between low serum magnesium concentrations with preterm labor. |

Can the response to three months Ibuprofen for controlling Heavy Menstrual Bleeding with IUD be predicted at baseline visit? |
Author : Mohammed k Ali, Ahmed M Abbas*, Ali H Yosef, Osama S Abdalmageed and Mustafa Bahloul |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Objective: The present study examines the hypothesis that the clinical and ultrasonography data reported at baseline visit can predict the responsiveness of ibuprofen in controlling heavy menstrual bleeding with Cu-IUDs at 3 months follow-up visit.
Materials and methods: We used data revealed from a single center open label prospective cohort study conducted at Woman’s Health Hospital, Assiut University, Egypt in the period between the 1st of October 2015 and the 30th of September 2016. This study included 128 women complaining of heavy/ prolonged menstrual bleeding with Cu-IUD; they received ibuprofen for three consecutive cycles. Seventy patients (54.68%) respond to ibuprofen and while 58 patients (45.31%) did not respond. Logistic regression was done to show the signifi cant predictors of ibuprofen response and a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves was used to evaluate the sensitivity and specifi city of the potential predictors revealed by logistic regression. |
